Attention Sophos support portal admins ...
FYI if a user logs out of support.sophos.com they get dumped on the home page of Salesforce.com.
Something tells me this is a setting that got overlooked when you switched support portals. Would probably be better to dump visitors back on support.sophos.com and not salesforce.com
Try it yourself to see what I mean ...

Just to clarify; a normal log out takes the user to the SophosID login page, however if the Support Portal session was timed out due to inactivity for a long period then you are directed to salesforce.com. Please let us know if your experience is different.

Yes I think you are correct. I don't ever explicitly click the Sign Out button unless I go back to the tab I had opened earlier, try to navigate somewhere and I get an error telling me I am unauthorized (or something to that effect). I assume it is because the site has timed out and it seems all I should have to do is click Log Out and then immediately log back in. This is when I get redirected to salesforce.com
