How to enter letters instead of numbers at the input mask of the password request?

To get into my android 6 phone, sophos mobile security asks for the "private sphere password/PIN".

The input mask presents circles with the numbers 0-9 inside, and below the circles there are the letters grouped.

But I didn't find a way to log in any letter, so I can't use my phone anymore!

I'm not totally sure if I installed the standalone version (9 months ago) without activating the loss&theft function or entering any PIN, and don't want to make a factory reset.

Annoyingly, I can't find my documentation of this

Are you using the free Sophos Mobile security app for Android? Can you please provide more details regarding the issue you are facing? Are you facing an issue with the "App Protection" feature of the Sophos Mobile Security app?

Yes, it's the free mobile security app for android, but I don't remember having activated app protection.

After switching on the phone, password is requested and I'm not able to enter it.
