Sophos Server install on Hyper-V hosts and Domain controllers

We certainly have customers running Sophos Server Protection on domain controllers and SQL servers; we would always recommend testing the deployment first if you can. We have an FAQ here; https://community.sophos.com/kb/en-us/121636. We also have built in scanning exclusions https://community.sophos.com/kb/en-us/121461 

However, we don't support running Sophos on a dedicated Hyper-V standalone server (ex: Microsoft Hyper-V Server 2016) For more info, please see the supported Windows platforms and system requirements here.

I would recommend using either our agents on the VMs, or our Sophos for Virtual Environments to run a security VM in Hyper-V to support offloading of anti-malware scanning for VMs

Hi Stephen,

I have read your post and looked at the links and the excel sheet, I'm still unclear if Sophos recommends installing Sophos on a server with the Hyper-V role installed.

If you do, will the some Hyper-V exceptions be setup?

We do support running Sophos on servers that run the Hyper-V role; but we are unable to add automatic exclusions currently as they cannot be applied for server roles.

Any idea when Exchange 2019 is going to be added to the "Automatic Exclusion"?

At the moment it only goes up to Exchange Server 2016.

Currently, it is not supported and the roadmap for it currently not available about when it will be available.
