Thanks for the reply. Hope you had a great holiday. I was able to find this link on the internet https://silicophilic.com/avast-says-my-router-is-infected/ and it seems to be similar to my issue. Should I try out the resolutions provided here? Do they seem logical to you?
As already mentioned, this forum is for Sophos related products and I can't comment on other AV products or the solutions suggested for them. You can try our Sophos Central endpoint/ Sophos Home (30 day trial) and let us know if that helps to resolve your issue.

I would attempt the Sophos Home to see what it states, as for the router itself, you should practice basic steps to ensure your routers security.
Change the default username & password, update the firmware, change the default SSID, etc. etc. etc.

But realistically you should read through a few articles on router security to know what you need.
