Can not manage/add linux servers from Sophos Enterprise Console

Hi,

We are unable to manage linux servers from sophos enterprise console(5.2.1R2). Steps to replicate :

1. Add the linux server to enterprise console.

2. Rightclick on it and choose protect. Click next two times.

3. Error shown : The applied software subscription does not contain software this computer can use.

Attached is screenshot.

Regards,

Shinoj.

  • Check your Update Manager subscriptions are pulled down a (or the right) Linux/UNIX package.  It's not possible to push SAV to Linux/UNIX from the console, see article: sophos.com/kb/118276

You may want to read more on SUM subscriptions, and I'd recommend: sophos.com/kb/110302

  • Hi,

We followed the steps in article: sophos.com/kb/118276 and I have Sophos AV installed on the linux server. This is not a problem. We are not able to get updates from Enterprise console automatically and on enterprise console we are not able to see the end point(linux server). Is there a way for the linux servers to get AV updates automatically? Is there a way we can check the status of AV on linux servers centrally from Enterprise console?

    Regards,

    Shinoj.

  • Hello Shinoj,

We are not able to get updates from Enterprise console automatically

I'm not sure what you mean by that - do you get an error on the clients or is the problem that no update location is defined (please see Chapter 16 Appendix F: in the configuration guide how to check)?

But anyway it sounds like they are not communicating with the console - are the required ports open? Once RMS works as it should you'll see them in the console and assign an appropriate policy.

  • Hi,

You are right in that the main problem is that clients are not communicating with the Enterprise console. There are no port restrictions as enterprise console and the linux servers are in the same VLAN.

As of now, we have manually mounted the SMB share and are installing Sophos on servers.

    Shinoj.

  • Attached is screenshot . The linux server is greyed out and does not show any details when I choose the view computer details option.

  • What does the router log show?  Any errors (shown on lines with 'E')?

    Example:

    /opt/sophos-av/rms/Router/Logs/Router*.log

[DATE] [TIME] 3700 I Opening root certificate initialisation file: ./cac.pem

[DATE] [TIME] 3700 D Old certificate not present, using new.
