Sophos Antivirus Free on Ubuntu 18.04 LTS terribly slow

Hi, 

 

I've installed Sophos Antivirus for Linux on my VM to test if it is suitable to install it on my machine for dayly use.

since i've installed the Antivirus, the system is terribly slow. Chrome takes up to 15 seconds to start.

Talpa seems to be working fine (no errors in talpaselect.log), Sophos us up to date, and my system seems to match the requirements (KBA16819)

I've set exclusions for mouted nfs shares - so only local files get scanned.

After the start of the machine, I see two processes of savscand, consuming over 600MB Ram and up to 20% CPU.

 

Any suggestions?
