This article explains the steps on limiting the savscand processes running simultaneously and how to change their CPU priority. The following sections are covered:
Applies to the following Sophos products and versions Sophos Anti-Virus for Linux
The default value of the number of simultaneous running savscand processes is 2. To determine the actual value, use this shell command: sudo /opt/sophos-av/bin/savconfig get Processes
sudo /opt/sophos-av/bin/savconfig get Processes
To set the number of savscand processes used to 1, use this shell command: sudo /opt/sophos-av/bin/savconfig set Processes 1
sudo /opt/sophos-av/bin/savconfig set Processes 1
Use the ps command to determine the PID of savd: ps auxwww|grep savd
ps auxwww|grep savd
Use the PID of savd and renice to change the priority of the spawned savscands to a nice value of 20. sudo renice 20
sudo renice 20
For further information concerning renice, see the renice man page. man 1 renice man 8 renice
man 1 renice man 8 renice
