Sophos Firewall reported computer not sending heartbeat signals

Hello everyone,

a few weeks ago, we finally activated heartbeat-restrictions on our XG 230 (SFOS 19.5.1 MR-1-Build278). After that, we got a lot of "missing heartbeat" alerts, which I could reduce by changing the report delay of the firewall to central.

Nevertheless we have a lot of clients, mainly laptops, that still trigger these alerts. I read in a former discussion, that it seems to be a problem with modern standby features.

Are there any news about this case?

Important improvements are already planned for SFOS v20, which will update how modern standby on Endpoints is handled by the Sophos Firewall. As of now, EAP is planned for October, but a more definitive release date for the v20 is not yet available.

this is probably due to Modern Standby Issues that Heartbeat currently cannot handle correctly

I suspect you are referring to "WINEP-49864". More information on this is available on our Known Issues List.

The current workaround options are:
a) Turn off HBT via Sophos Firewall rule OR
b) Do not use the Connected Standby function
