I tried to uninstall Sophos by throwing the app into the bin, which was unsuccessful as the as I still get regular update notifications (pop-ups). How do I remove the remnants of the antivirus, please? These constant reminders are getting extremely irritating and I have to way to remove them.
First, type in spotlight Remove sophos (a sophos tool to uninstall)
if not find the tool
Download and use tool in this post Sophos removal tool
There are still 2 files left:/System/Volumes/Data/private/var/db/dslocal/nodes/Default/groups/_sophos.plist/System/Volumes/Data/private/var/db/dslocal/nodes/Default/users/_sophos.plistAs I understand, that is MacOS password cache DB. Do you know how how to remove those 2 files as well? Would be glad for the help.
I don't know why those two files are still there, maybe not have properly reboot, or the mac keychain... who knows I write without knowing
In a very rough way, to delete a file, you know
enable root userfor examplewww.maketecheasier.com/.../and rm that files
rm /var/db/dslocal/nodes/Default/groups/_sophos.plistrm /var/db/dslocal/nodes/Default/users/_sophos.plist
Thank you for your reply, much appreciated.
I'd rather not waste any more of my time with Sophos products.
How do I force-remove this please? Thank you.
