  • Hello Hadi,

    Could you please describe what happens after running the following command (as pmx user):

    $ pmx-milter start

    Does it come back with any output?

    There could be a stale PID in the directory /opt/pmx/var/run/milter

    If there is a file in there, and the milter is not running, delete the file Policy.pid and re-run the command above.

    Cheers,

    Mark.

    7/PureMessage/Policy/Script.pm line 58

  • Hello Hadi,

    As per my last message, the file policy.pid is in the directory

    /opt/pmx/var/run/milter

    Most systems have a "locate" command as well:

    $ locate policy.pid

    This is not the issue however.  The error message states "unknown list" named Backscatter-NDR.

    This means you are referring to a list named Backscatter-NDR in your policy.siv that is not defined in the policy manager.

    Policy -> Lists -> New.  You must create a list named Backscatter-NDR or put the location of this list in when you create it.

    If you have a pre-existing file named Backscatter-NDR, please back it up before you proceed.

    Please call support if you need further assistance.

    Cheers,

    MarkJD

  • If you don't have the locate command installed, you can always do the following:

    find / -name policy.pid -print

  • hi MarkJD,

    I already try to find policy.pid on /opt/pmx/var/run/milter but there's no such file.

    I already create a list named Backscatter-NDR and after that I type ;

    pmx-milter start

    but

    still have the same message problem.

    Thanks and Best Regards,

  • Hello Hadi,

    I've outlined above how to get this to work.

    If you can tell us exactly how you created the list, we can try and help you out.   You have stated you have made the list.  This could be that you have done it through the interface, or perhaps you created a file in the /opt/pmx/etc directory, or perhaps you created a policy item that has no reference.

    The Policy.pid is not the problem for you.  The list is the issue.  How did you create the list?  Please be as detailed as possible.  Remember, I can not see what you are typing, or doing.  Explain every step in detail.

    One thing to note, the list name would be case sensitive.  If you've created a list called Backscatter-ndr, or backscatter-NDR, it will not work.  The error states "Backscatter-NDR" so that's the exact case it is looking for.

    I would strongly encourage you to contact Sophos support if my post doesn't help.

    Mark.
