  • you should set the password for loginuser and root from webadmin.

seems you know the current passwords for loginuser and root (su) why you need to recover this passwords?

to reset the webadmin password, login with root (from ssh: loginuser / su) and use the cc commands from article.

  • the problem is: i can cant logins with my root password.

if iam on the konsole directly connectet via keyboad in and try to log in to the UTM, i get:

    Login incorrect

so my problem is, that i dont have the webadmin password anymore and can not change it via webadmin

  • so the message "passwd root  /  bash told my password changed" is not correct.

otherwise you should be able to use the new password for SU commande directly (without reboot)

my last option (within a test environment)  was to boot from linux-iso/cd, mount the UTM-HDD and edit the 2 password files.

there are a part of line containing the encrypted password. deleting these part removes the password.

... sorry don't know details currently, because the action is few some years.

afterwards you boot UTM and are able to access the device without password. (from console only)

you should quick reset the webadmin password and reset all passwords from webadmin.
