New Setup

I have UTM 9.7, and setup on a inexpensive PC, with 8GB memory/1TB drive, an motherboard Intel Ethernet eth0 and dual-port Intel Ethernet NIC (eth1/eth2).

Setup with eth0 as 10.0.0.2, Can connect to WebAdmin interface from https://10.0.0.2:4444, and registered the "home only" license. The eth1 connection in the console shows the link up for eth1 connected to the ISP.

However, when trying to use the Win10 client (previously used for the UTM home WebAdmin interface) cannot http to any other URL.

Rather than move question by question, is there an installation guide for the UTM home setup/use?

Hi Lawrence,

The start-wizzard should create a working configuration.

(You need DNS, a firewall-Rule allowing access to "internet" and a NAT/masquerading rule)

BTW, Sophos UTM is EOL in 2026. You should consider testing the current Sophos-XG-firewall. There is a home version/licence too.

Dirk,

Thank you for the UTM administration guide. However, after getting connected to the eth0 WebAdmin console, installing the license, and showing the ISP connecting on eth1, still cannot go from the workstation on the LAN to the internet through the UTM (workstation >eth0, but not through to ISP at eth1).

Does that make sense?

Fixed, thanks to community forum!
1- support > tools > DNS typed in google.com and that worked.
2- workstation-

Problem was when static coded NIC & DNS on the client and did not let the UTM DHCP assign values.
