XG and AP10 how to get 40mhz channels

I have an AP10 connected to my home XG. The maximum connection speed shown is 65mb/s.

I know how to change UTM AP settings, but not how to get 40mhz channels from an XG? On a UTM I can achieve 150mb/s connections.

Your thoughts and suggestions please?

  • Hi Ian,

As you are using AP 10, 2.4 GHz frequency band is default settings. This band will utilize channel widths: 20, 40 MHz, the Access Point will automatically transmit on the least used channel.

    Thanks

  • I opened a Supportcase a while ago, asking if there is any possibility to manually modify the Channel width on a XG Firewall. The answer was:

nach Rücksprache mit einigen Kollegen ist diese Änderung der Channel width nicht supportet.
Sie können hier für diese Änderung einen Feature Request eröffnen:

This means: The technican asked his Support-friends, and they were telling him, changing the Channel-Width at a XG is currently not supported, and the technican asked me to open a Feature request (Which is the default answer for any lacking Feature  at Sophos :)

We allready discussed this somewhere in this Community, but due to this "great" search-functionality, I cannot find the corresponding thread again.

  • Okay, I will shut down my fulty AP55c and see if that improvs the throughput on the AP10 connected the XG.

While the speed is not important for web browsing link to slow, it is impoirtant for file saving and backups.

Work have supplied me with an opposition AP and it runs rings around the AP10. I hope when I get my replacement AP50 I will get better connection speed.
