Cant access XG85w anymore, Pingable but no web or console access possible

Hello

I started the initial Setup on port 1 for the XG85w, the Setup was done, I activated DHCP for Port 1, ive got an DHCP IP ( 192.168.1.10 has the Firewall) and everything was fine. I rebootet the Firewall and after that, I cant access the Firewall anymore.

1. it fails over  Web:

http:\\192.168.1.10:80
https:\\192.168.1.10:80
http:\\192.168.1.10
https:\\192.168.1.10
http:\\192.168.1.10:4444
https:\\192.168.1.10:4444

I can ping it.

2. it Fails over the console:

when I connect with Putty, speed 38400 or 9600, the Screen is just black I dont see any creditals.

then I press ctrl + c and it says :Authentification fails", and it wants just a passwort from me.

I dont rember seting any console Passwords, Tryed following passwords:

-admin
-1234
-the password I set for web

and all fails, cant log in into the console.

I pressed the "Reset" button for around 10 secounds, rebootet, tryed again several times, but it did not reset really, It still gives me the DHCP I have set up ( 192.168.1.xxx)

Please, how can I access the Device again ? is there any other way Reseting the Device with the reset Button ?

Best Regards

Zdenko

  • Zdenko,

once your are connected to XG using putty (serial cable) you should be able to enter the password configured on web interface. If this does not work, reboot the appliance and keep pushing Enter button. You will get the SF loader and using the first option you are able to reset the admin password to default value.

  • Hello Lferrara

You helped me, thx! Its impotant to reboot the XG85w while connected with the serial cable and putty with speed 38400, then Pressing "enter" Ive got 3 choises ( 0, 1 and 2). Pressed 0, could reset Console Password to default( defaultis: admin) and after reboot and entering console normaly, under the Point 5 I could reset the whole thing to default settings.
