Virtual mac fails

In my attempt to upgrade my UTM to XGS (home), I moved my virtual mac from the old to the new.

But it will not pull my static IP.  My ISP says it looks like it powers up, uses the hardware mac, pulls a dynamic IP, then switches to the virtual mac.

My modem has the static IP, so the displayed dynamic IP doesn't work.  The dynamic IP is pingable for about 20 seconds.

I rebooted the modem many times.

I rebooted the XGS twice.

Any ideas?

Also there is no renew button like UTM had.  Or am I missing it?

Chris.

  • Hi,

the home version is still XG, does not have the xgs features. You need to edit and save without making any changes to the wan settings. The modem will not have an ip address unless it is in router mode and you can either use dhcp if the isp server allows for static addressing or you enter the details yourself.

sounds like the isp server does not provide all the details to enable a static ip address.
