I am using MFA for certain users, using it in Web Admin Console, SSL VPN and User portal in which there is no way to disable it.
However I would not want to require MFA for web authentication, for example, an unknown user is directed to the web portal to authenticate, is he required to use MFA in this case? is there any way to disable MFA just for the web authentication portal?
Hi Guilherme,
Thanks for reaching out to the Sophos Community Forum.
May I ask if you are logging in to Sophos Central, or another WebAdmin interface?
It is not currently possible to disable the MFA requirement when logging in to Sophos Central or the Self-Service Portal.
Hello!
I need to use MFA for SSL VPN, but Sophos ends up forcing the use in Captive Portal. I would like to disable the use of MFA in captive portal only, for web authentications.
Allow me some time to inquire with our team and update you. I've moved this post over to the Sophos Firewall forum in the meantime, in the event other members of the community are able to assist.
Hello Guilherme,
Adding to what Qoosh has mentioned.
The User Portal is different than the Captive Portal, for the Captive Portal there’s no MFA.

Hello Emmosophos,
So why when activating MFA for a user, he can only authenticate in the captive portal by inserting the MFA code after the password?
Hi Guilherme,
Thank you for reaching out to Sophos Community.
Kindly try the following:
navigate to CONFIGURE>Authetication >Multi-factor authentication and check Multi-Factor authentication settings
If you have enabled a One-time password (OTP) for all the users you have to authenticate all the users with MFA
Select "No OTP, Click on Apply, and check if this resolves the issue.
