  • I suggest you open log viewer in web and try too connect because you will be missing some other pages which will require an exception.

  • Hi rfcat_vk,

I have checked www.messenger.com in log viewer and it's allowed. The problem is, it only displays text. Here's some screenshot.

  • Hi,

you will also need to add messenger in the allowed applications.

  • Do i have to create a separate firewall rule?

I already added Facebook Chat and Facebook messenger in Allowed Apps.

  • Hi,

no you don't need another firewall rule, but you need to add them to your application filter on the firewall rule you are using to provide access.

  • Hi,

seems that it is missing styles so I guess the stylesheets (CSS) are loaded from the facebook website. Look into the source of the messenger website and try to locate from where css is loaded.

  • Yes rfcat_vk, I already did that but still displays the same.

  • Have you got this solved?

i have the same problem but with the messenger app.

i can block facebook and allow messenger by adding in the url of facebook and just blocking it from web filter. messenger.com will still be accessible. only problem is that the messenger app for smartphones are also blocked.

i already tried to not block using the web filter and use the application filter to specifically block and allow. still, messenger is blocked even when allowed through the application filter. Specifically i allowed facebook messenger, chat, and other related to chatting. and just blocked the facebook site from the application filter. still same results.

i tried experimenting and blocking one part at a time such as vids, posts, uploads, pics, etc. not of which work. i can still view, upload, post.

    firmware currently running is 17.1.4

  • Not yet,

We are not after to smartphones access and have not tried blocking messenger on smartphones.

We don't use wifi for our personnel. For security purposes, our wifi is in separate network.

Our main concern is just to block facebook and allow messenger.com on desktop/laptop using LAN.

I can access messenger.com but seems the CSS files cannot load completely and will display blank page after logging in with no error.

Can u show us your configurations?
