Android Device doesn't get container policy

Hi there,

I've been having problems rolling out the container policy on various Android devices a lot lately.

The device get the android enterprise and the mobile threat policy. But the container policy remains on "no policy received".
I already tried to push the policy again, or restarted the device.
Sometimes it is working if I re-register device 2-4 times.

Is there an workaround to help me here or does anyone have a similar problem?

Any help would be appreciated.

Best Regards,

Jonas

  • Hello Jonas,

Thank you for reaching out to the Sophos Community Forum.

Could you elaborate on which container configurations you're trying to apply? Is this for "Sophos Secure Email" or "Sophos Secure Workspace"?

When trying this on my side, I was required to define a pin and go through some initial setup steps for the desired application before the device in Central showed "Work email: Applied"

Are you seeing errors when opening the SSE or Workspace app on the local device?

  • Hello Kushal,

I'm trying this for Sophos Secure E-Mail. I was required to set a PIN for the work profile in the Sophos Mobile Control App. After this the device is "Directive-compliant".

I do not see any erros if I open the SSE App. When I open it, it is shown "no policy get" and I get press "Resync" button. The resync button doen't get me the policy.

    Thank you,

    Jonas

  • Have you tried connecting the mobile device to a different network, then to re-apply the container policy from Sophos Central?

You may also want to open the Sophos Mobile Control application to perform a sync so that it checks in with Sophos Central. Let me know if the Sync goes through successfully but the SSE Container does not.

  • Yes, I tried this in different networks.

I also started a sync from the Sophos Mobile Control application, but the device still don't have the SSE Container.

    Thank you and best Regards,

  • We have seen that this helps those devices: If the device is not receiving policies, it helps to jump to the Settings - All Apps / Work Profile - and delete Cache / Data of Sophos Mobile Control app. After this, the device is connecting again and getting the information.

  • Hi Laslo,

I appreciate your solution but unfortunately it doesn't work for me. By the way I'm not able to delete data of the Sophos Mobile controll app. I can only delete the cache of it.

I also tried to delete the cache/data of the Sophos Secure Mail app.

    Thank you.

  • It seems that the SSC and SSE app do not communicate correctly with each other during registration.

Meanwhile I get an workaround from the Sophos Support that works for me:

    - You need to unregister the sophos container on the affected device

    - sync the device

    - make sure the policy is not shown anymore in the device details on our sophos server

    - assign the container policy

    - check if the device get the container policy

Hope this will help you to progess with this problem. Sophos is investigating this at the moment.

    Regards,

    Jonas
