I have followed the two guides on configuring an ipad to be in Apples Management Manager and Sophos Mobile.
I can see the devices in sophos under devices > Apple DEP. However when I click on the device name its reported supervised : no.
Checking the ipad, I can see under general > device management that the device is managed by sophos mobile. Besides that, it doesn't complete the rest of the configurations that I have set; to install the app, install the wifi profile and set to single app mode.
Under settings > setup> apple setup > APNs, the APN has expired. Could this be the reason why the ipads are refusing to be supervised? or is there something else I am missing
After we fixed the APN, wiped the device and then rebooted; the device became supervised.
Sending a device profile that has settings that apply only to a supervised iOS device to a non-supervised iOS device will fail and will result in the below error: ... iOS, take a look at Sophos Mobile: How to activate the supervised mode on an iOS.
Supervised mode gives greater control over iOS devices owned by a company and enables additional device configurations and features. By default, official site iOS devices are not supervised but the Supervised mode can be set up to a new device using Apple DEP or Apple Configurator.
You are most welcome :-)It is also worth noting, that if the ios device doesn't have a working sim\sim slot; you will need to connect it to WiFi BEFORE it will download the DEP profile - install Corp WiFi profile and go into single app mode. Which is kind of counterintuitive, because it should just know its apart of DEP. But I understand how is it supposed to know its DEP if it cannot talk to the Apple Servers.
Even if you follow all those steps to the letter, it will always fail if the APN is broken.
Regulated mode gives more prominent authority over iOS gadgets possessed by an organization and empowers extra gadget designs and highlights. Naturally, official site iOS gadgets are not directed however the Supervised mode can be set up to another gadget utilizing Apple DEP or Apple Configurator.
