Can’t enroll device. You’ve reached the maximum number of Android enterprise devices per user. BUT ONLY have 7 devices with that user

Hello, just wondering if you can help, we are enrolling Hundreds of Android devices into AFW (Enterprise Device Owner) Mode which has a device user limit of 10 devices per user account.

we have just started enrolling using a new account (never been used in SMC) and we have reached device number 8 and now receive the below message, would you be able to offer any advice please?

  • Hi Andrew,

this is a response from the Google backend that no additional devices are allowed for this user.
There is no way we can influence this behavior.
Every user has a separate Google user ID to which the device is linked. We do not have any insights what Google exactly does and when they clean-up their backend.
In general, it is not recommended to add several devices to one user account. Instead, using one user per device is the recommendation.

    Best regards

  • thanks for this but we have hundreds of shared devices and cannot link to one individual user. strange how the recommend that yet allow 10 devices per account, many people in corporate or private have more than one device.
