'SSL stripping detected'. Ongoing Sophos issue?

The last two days Sophos has been warning SSL detected when I connect for the first time each day. When I manually perform the Sophos network check it says the network is OK. I have also disconnected from the network, forgotten it, then reconnected and I do not get a warning.

A little googling soon shows this has been a regular issue over the years and, despite Sophos' claims to the contrary, would appear still not to have been rectified. Could a Sophos representative please respond to confirm whether or not this is a Sophos issue and, if so, why, after several years, it has still not been rectified?

  • Hi

Are you seeing this issue on all your android devices? Please check that you have latest AV engine updates installed as per this article. Also try to disconnect from the network,Forget the network and connect it to it again via your smartphone. Is the error shown again?

  • I only have one Android device. I have tapped on last update regularly since I got the first alert on Saturday morning. As I said in my original post, I forgot and reconnected yesterday. I also changed my DNS servers at router level to Quad9 servers on Saturday and also changed and strengthened my wifi and router passwords at the same time, but I still received the SSL stripping alert again on Sunday morning. However I have not received any SSL stripping alerts since.

From this information are you able to tell whether this is a Sophos issue again as it has been on a number of occasions in recent years?
