How to exclude Volume Shadow Copies from On-Access scanning?

Question

I have tried excluding the directory "\Device\HardDiskVolumeShadowCopy*" but keep receiving an error "Invalid exclusion entered". How can the Volume Shadow Copies be excluded?

According to Sophos tech support removing the * wildcard and defining the exclusion as a "Folder" path \Device\HardDiskVolumeShadowCopy\ will exclude all Volume Shadow Copies.

Hi Ravi, 
 you can apply Exclusions if needed , basically shadow copies may contain virus if the copies were made from an infected system . But it just a requirement if you trust the system itself.
