Update Manager - errors 8004040x

Hello,

can you help me with updates? After new installation SEC4 I can't update IDE on workstations because an Update Manager gives me error messages:

Software subscriptions status

User and psw seems alright as I am able to log and download updates manualy.

Thanks, avivacz

  • Hello avivacz,

what does the SUMTrace20100302....log say? Search for failed, there should be some details. Also the usual questions - did it work before? What is the source - Sophos? And where have you logged on to to download the updates manually?

  • Hello Christian,

I can't find log you mention :-(. I suppose it worked, as I installed SEC on February 3. and last update is February 18. Source is Sophos. Manually I downloaded IDE from sophos.com/downloads/ide/ just to be sure there is no problem with account.

  • Hello avivacz,

the SUMTrace logs are in [%ALLUSERSPROFILE%Application Data|%PROGRAMDATA%]\Sophos\Update Manager\Logs.

BTW: No credentials are required for downloading IDEs from sophos.com (even if you enter them somewhere on the path). And this is not the place SUM uses to download updates.

Well, try to find the logs and maybe they tell us more.

  • Christian,

In Update Manager - Sources is Sophos as the source. In Source Details there is Address (Sophos) and Username and Psw. Bellow is Proxy.

You right with the SUMTrace.... didn't search in hidden folders.... error in this file is:

Error during package synchronisation: Checksum error: 6a253babe3955da8b2c2befba5248953

I try new clean installation on different machine, but with the same result, except Last update stated 'Never'

  • Hm ... both on the old and new machine? You should call support with what you know.

I've never encountered a persistent checksum error. What's in the lines above and below and is it the same error on both the old and the new machine? And - wild guess, is a process named cidaemon running?

    and so on.... :-)

And I don't have cidaemon running...

OK enough digging, I'm calling support. Thanks anyway :-)

  • I'm getting the exact same thing. I think it's a permission issue with the "working" directory. I'll be calling Sophos Support soon as well. Please post if you get an answer!

    Thanks
