Dear all,
what is the right way to permanently disable on-access scaning? I would like to use Sophos only for on-demand scans.
Thank you for your help!

Please take a look at the following Linux guide to disable on-access scanning( Page 9 Stop on-access scanning).
https://www.sophos.com/en-us/medialibrary/PDFs/documentation/savl_9_cgeng.pdf
It is important to note that if you stop on-access scanning, Sophos Anti-Virus does not scan files that you access for viruses. This puts your computer, and others to which it is connected, at risk.
To stop on-access scanning type: /opt/sophos-av/bin/savdctl disable

Thank you for your reply. I am aware of this document as well as its chapter 3.4. However according to my experience using $ sudo /opt/sophos-av/bin/savdctl disable disables on-access scaning only to the next reboot. And after rebooting of the system it starts again.
Is there any way to turn it off permanently? Linux guide describes in paragraph 3.2 configuration for starting on-access scaning on boot, I would like to turn it off. Thank you for your help!
