Question about central and Website management

In the process of migrating from on-prem to Central.

Had a question about the Website Customization.  Lets say for argument purposes I want to allow access to Playboy.com .  I assume that is is blocked in the category of Adult/Sexually Explicit.  If I wanted to allow access to playboy, I would open the console and go to system settings to add it to the list and put a tag to it, then add it to my policy I am using.

When does the Enable Category Override option come into play ?  When would I use that option as opposed to just doing a tag?

If I put the url for playboy in the top and checked the Enable Category Override would it then allow access to playboy? Would it take playboy out of the Adult Category BUT still block everything else in the category?  Would it be global and I would not have to add a tag to my policies?

Thanks,

Steve

  • Hi stevefiedler,

There are couple of ways you could do it,

Option 1: Create a TAG and add the domain and other domain for the URL which you would like to Block or Allow .  Using this option it would check for default category action , if blocked and allowed in Control list then it would allow it without overwriting the category . This is useful if you wish to preserve the category and also allow this website .

Option 2: Overwrite the Category: Guess this is self-explaned. It would switch to the custom category you wish to assign to and depending on the action of the default category it is allowed or denied.  On Reports it will show as per the updated category.
