Slow web browsing on macOS

Hi. I'm currently testing some stuff on an Intel MacBook Pro. As soon as Sophos Endpoint has been deployed, web browsing becomes extremely slow. The funny thing is it's not the network speed that's slow: when I open activity monitor and try to open a website, it's clear that there's a significant delay (several minutes) between sendinq the request and getting an answer. Once the website opens, everything works fine. This happens on Safari, Chrome and Firefox.

At the same time, download speeds (System Updates, Software Downloads) are working just as expected. On a Windows installation running in Parallels on the same Mac everything is fine.

Any help or ideas are really appreciated!

  • Hi Gladys. Thanks for your reply. The MacBook is running on macOS 13.2 and Sophos is on 10.4.1. Web Control is currently off, but the problem persists.

It seems to take a while for the effect to show: when I uninstall Sophos everything is working fine again. After reinstalling web browsing works fine for a few minutes before the issue comes up again.
