Different Safeguard Management Center password for every SO & MSO user

Hi Guys,

As per subject above we tried to create multiple user account and password for Safeguard Management Center but failed.

Appreciate if someone can guide or confirmed step we use below are correct. Thanks

Question:

1.Does Safeguard Management Center support multiple account with diffrent Password or multiple cert. store password?

New account step:

1.Create new MSO/SO user with certificate password - success

2.Login using new created account and password (same with certificate pswd) - Failed with error "The certificate for the requested office could not be found or the key is not accessible. Would you like to import the certificate now"

3.Select Import and choose new account cert and key in password for the cert with Cert. Store password

4.Account cert succesfully import however the password for the new account is using "Cert. Store Password" instead of new user cert password.

  • Hi Azwan,

the Certificate Store password is bound to your Windows User account. If you want to use multiple accounts to authenticate to the SafeGuard Enterprise Management Center, I'd suggest to use different Windows Accounts for your Security Officers.

You could also use "Promoted Security Officers" (after importing a user from Active Directory to your SafeGuard Database, select the user account within the Management Center and open the context menue. Select "'Make this User a Security Officer").

Promoted Security Officers use their Windows Account credentials to logon to any SafeGuard Management Center that is connected to your Database.

    Cheers,

  • Hi Chris,

Information provide are very helpfull, I have one more question regarding Safeguard Management Center.

I have create new MSO account for customer and install Safeguard Management Center at her computer.

However customer accidently import different MSO certificate at the setup process, we have uninstall and reinstall back Safeguard Management Center but installation process didn't prompt for certificate and automatic use same certificate user import on the first installation.

    Question;

    1. Does Safeguard Management Center install/created local certificate folder at computer and how do we completely remove and performed fresh installation

    2. Do we need to edit Safeguard Database to remove the MSO certificate information since MSO imported at first installation setup process updated to dabase

  • Hi Azwan,

in case you imported an incorrect certificate for an MSO account and want to remove it, use the SafeGuard Certificate Manager (Start | Programs | Sophos | SafeGuard | SafeGuard Certificate Manager or via "C:\Program Files (x86)\Sophos\SafeGuard Enterprise\Management Center\SGCertMgr.exe") to select the respective certificate and click on "Delete certificate from store".

Please note that a certificate cannot be imported with a wrong *.p12 password and it sounds more like your customer used the provided *.p12 file for the initial MSO that is created in wizard, where the SafeGuard Database will be created.

To switch a certificate for an existing (Master-) Security Officer, open up the Management Center and select "Security Officers", select the Officer account, click import and choose the correct new certificate file.

    Hope that helps,

    Chris
