Could you please check the client and server communication using this article? If you are still facing the issue, please let us know. 

Is the cert a self-published one?

You may need to install and trust this cert on each client. How many Macs is this issue with?

Only one as that the only one, how do you trust the cert?

sudo /usr/bin/security add-trusted-cert -d -k /Library/Keychains/System.keychain -r trustAsRoot -p ssl mycertnameishere.cer

Or find the cert...Launch Keychain. Import Cert.

Open Cert and use drop down to select "Always Trust" on all of the options...

You could also turn off SSL on the client if you wanted but this is a bit of a backward step. Best to address the issue rather than hiding/disabling it!
