Has anyone taken any Sophos training?? How was your experience with it?? Would you recommend others attend? Thanks Sean

  • I too would like to know about others' experience on training, I've not been on any personally, but I have heard only good things from the very limited number of people that have mentioned going on training to me before.

Having been down to Sohpos HQ before, I know that the atmoshpere is always extemely welcoming and I imagine it to be exactly the same for training. The only reason I have not been on any training personally is the pricing. I know how invaluable the information on the training will be, but at the same time - when thinking about the budget we have as a school, the money for the fully blown training on products (compared to the revised/half day sessions) are immense.

  • I have been on the Sophos training a few years ago when they first released Endpoint Security. The training was held at Sophos Abingdon. I highly recommend it, I am not just saying that because this is Sophos’’’’s forum, but I genuinely found the three days well worth the time and money.  The training was well structured and plenty of time to ask questions etc. I must agree with David in the previous post, that the whole team were very friendly and had plenty of time for you. We also had chance to be shown around the building and meet a lot of the teams and different roles, good to understand the whole process from a virus in the wild to Sophos identifying it and releasing a ide etc. Abington is an impressive building and has a great atmosphere to sum it all up; it was a pleasurable experience and obtained plenty of knowledge for my role.

I certainly obtained more knowledge from the training than I thought I would. I am also thinking of attending training for Endpoint Security 9 if they do one?

  • Yup - and us idiots took pains to learn from sparse documentation, mistakes and self-inflicted catastrophes :smileyvery-happy:

  • I see lots of booth events in the U.S., but alas, not training events... actually, nothing in the Great Lakes region at all.

    Oh well...

  • Although this is by no means an answer to proper training, the white papers and the KB documents Sophos have are extremely helpful - though in my opinion, the KB is only really worthwhile after a problem has occured, not to prepare you etc

  • I personally, have struggled with updates in the sense of finding the correct KB for what it is I am doing. When I find them, they're usually good quality, showing pre-requisites etc prior to install. But if there are know issues, these don't seem to be reflected by an updated handbook/manual etc. Rather you install an update, then have a known issue which has a patch to fix it. It would be musch simpler to be aware of that in advance so you can just install it immediately afterwards.

This is a general comment, rather than specific to 1 piece of software.

    Hope that makes sense
