Sophos unable to update?

I have Windows 8, and when I press the "Show hidden icons" button at the bottom right of my screen and press the "Solve PC issues" button (the one that looks like a flag) it tells me that Sophos is out of date and gives me an option to update it. However, when I press "Update" absolutely nothing happens. Also, when I go to the Sophos "app" I guess you could say, on my computer, the options on the left that say "Visit Sophos website/View Security information/Sophos technical support"... when I go to click on them, it says "Windows cannot find 'Google Chrome'. Make sure you typed the name correctly, and then try again." And sometimes, instead of 'Google Chrome' it says ''indows/system32' So I'm thinking that might have something to do with it not updating, but I have no clue how to fix it. So I don't know if this is a problm with Chrome or a problem with Sophos, but I'm hoping someone here has the answer.

I am not computer-savvy whatsoever, and have only had Sophos for a few weeks now, so a really broken down answer would be ideal. Thanks so much!

Also, I'm sorry if this question isn't where it's meant to be. I literally just now made this account so I could get an answer ASAP and don't really know how to navigate this forum just yet.
