Feedback needed on the support knowledgebase

You can find the Sophos support knowledgebase at http://www.sophos.com/support. It contains thousands of articles about installing, configuring and using Sophos products and their features, how to solve problems when something goes wrong, and what to do when malware strikes. You can search the articles, or browse them by product. Many of the articles are translated, and available on the Japanese, French, German, Spanish and Italian websites.

Because there are thousands of articles, it's inevitable that we sometimes get things wrong, or that something will be out of date without us spotting it. You can help. If you see anything that needs fixing in an article, or if you would like us to write a new article, post the details as a reply to this thread. Where possible, please quote the five or six digit article ID, so that we know where the problem lies. You can find the ID at the bottom of every article.

Thanks for your help.

  • This is my first bit of feedback.  I believe I found a typo on Article ID: 61474

The command:  Msiexec /l*v C:\logname.msi /qb- /i “Location of msi”

Should read: Msiexec /l*v C:\logname.log /qb- /i “Location of msi”

    Hope this helps.

  • I have just used it to find help on uninstalling (anti virus) and got no hits at all, seems a bit of a gap.  Can you direct me to some information on this? I've uninstalled all the files and run the root removal but it still gets detected by anti virus software when i try to install it.

    thanks

  • Hi Ollie,

Do you mean you are trying to remove Sophos AV ? or remove another AV and trying to install Sophos ?

If you are installing Sophos Anti Virus and it says another AV is installed, there is a log file which will tell you what it has found, something like %temp%\sophos competitor detection.txt (cannot remember exactly).  Read this and it will tell you what to remove.

If it is another AV your installing, you are better off asking their support what it is looking for.

It would most likely be the uninstall string located:

hklm\software\microsoft\windows\currentversion\uninstall\ [name or GUID for product]

    Hope that helps :)
