Sophos UTM 9 Update

Hi Razzif,

The UTM stores Up2Date packages in the directory/var/up2date/sys which is in the / root partition hence, it can be fully occupied if the UTM downloads many Up2Date packages. Run the df -h command to check the free space in each partition. 

You may need to free the up2date/sys directory and manually update the UTM. The easiest way is to take a backup and update the UTM manually by downloading the up2date file from FTP.

This is what I got :

That shows that the / root partition is full. Move half of the files in the /var/up2date/sys/ directory to /var/log/up2datesys/ as the /var/log directory has free space. To do that run the command:

1. mkdir /var/log/up2datesys;


2. mv /var/up2date/sys/* /var/log/up2datesys/;


3. Now remove some file from up2datesys/ to /var/up2date/sys/ and run:

auisys.plx 

Repeat the steps 2 & 3 until all the moved files are removed and installed.

Is it possible to move the some packages in the current directory to other directory?

If can, the current directory will have some space. So, we can update it to few packeages first.

So this need to be run under Putty SSH? I'm actually still new in this. Not sure what this code is. Can you explain what is this code mean? I need to understand it first before performing.

the first one is to make a directory. The second one is to move the files in to it so you have room to run the updates.

Does the second command will move everything to new directory? If so, the old directory will be empty right? So, how can I update after that?

Hi Razzif,

All the commands are executed taking the shell access via putty. Refer this KBA for more information.

The commands suggested by me in the previous post are basic Linux; mkdir = make directory, mv = move. You can always google the commands.

you missed the point of his last post. If he moves all the files into the new directory what will be left to execute because the directory will be empty.

If I run take command, the old directory will be empty.

Now the current version  firmware is 9.107-33. It's too old.

So, the next firmware is Version 9.109-1. Sophos Support said need to update it one by one.

So, the next step i need to move the firmware pack Version 9.109-1 back to old directory?

I need to know the flow first before performing it.
