Hi,
When an Sophos AP is EoL (for exmple the AP100 which is eol 31 dec 2023) will it still remain to work or will it become useless?
Regards,
Peter

Hi Peter,
Good day and thanks for reaching out to Community and hope you’re well.
No, It would still work and not become useless as Wireless is included in SF Base License: https://docs.sophos.com/nsg/sophos-firewall/19.5/Help/en-us/webhelp/onlinehelp/AdministratorHelp/Administration/Licensing/index.html#license-bundles
It would only lose support and product updates on EOL but not functionality.
Hope this helps. Have a nice day, and thank you for choosing Sophos

This seems to be in contradiction with Change to License Term Activation Policy, updated March 10th 2023: https://partners.sophos.com/prm/English/c/sophos-license-activation-policy
Quote:
End Of Life Hardware Products
Base licenses for End Of Life firewall and UTM products will no longer work as of July 1, 2023, and therefore the underlying hardware capabilities will fail to operate at this time. Products will operate as a network switch and no longer function as a firewall.
Base licenses include the following: Stateful Firewall, VPN, Wireless. The policy change doesn't seem to leave room for interpretation either by stating that "Products will operate as a network switch and no longer function as a firewall". This would include APs no longer working after EOL since they work in tandem.
Hello,
Yes that would be the case as this is the new release information and would affect EOL firewall features. The response above was dated 2months ago prior the release of this news. Many thanks for sharing the information
Have a nice day ahead and thank you for choosing Sophos.
