Hello,
I recently purchased two pre-owned 320 APX APs for my home. Both APs boot into solid green, fast flash red, change to solid green, and then flash fast red again. They never become visible in UTM 9 and appear to be bricked. I've left them connected for hours, and this cycle never ends. Resetting has no affect, nor does rebooting during the solid green phase (I didn't boot in flashing red, as supposedly that's a firmware upgrade in progress).
Two questions, if anyone knows:
1) Is this what happens when they're bricked?
2) Where can I download the APX 320 firmware? I'd like to give the flashing tool a go.
Thanks in advance for anyone's assistance!
Jim
Did you try a full reset?

It looks like the firmware is already included in the download tool.
Hey, Alan. Not sure what you mean by included in the download tool - could you please explain?
Thx!
Pressing and releasing the reset button does nothing.
If I remove/reattach power, I get a solid green for about 10 secs, then flashing red.
If I remove/reattach power, press and hold the reset button before the flashing red starts, I get a solid red. After that, whether I release or not, I get fast flashing red.
The reset button really doesn't seem to solve the problem
The Sophos Flashing Tool opens a TFTP port on the computer to serve the firmware file to the access point.
This would make it seem as if the Sophos tool detects which APX you have and has the firmware for it.
I would make sure sure you follow the steps EXACTLY to do the full reset first by holding the reset button until the LED is solid red, then blinking red, then release the reset button.
I came across this tutorial where they say to use a usb-to-RJ45 cable and connect to the AP using putty.

Ummmm, looks like the APX 320 is not even supported! That would explain why it isn't detected. Wow. You better ask for your money back...

Good fine, thx. I bought one of those cables last night, actually.
see the last post here at the very bottom
These are APX 320s, not APX 320X. The line above the one you have highlighted shows them supported in latest 9 of UTM, which I have. BTW - I have two other APX 320's that are working fine. Great find, though. I did not see that compatibility chart.
ok, I misread it.
That's not the behavior I get. If I pull the power and push it back in, I get a brief amber, then green. If I hold the reset button while still green, I get a slow blinking red for about 10 secs, and then a fast blinking red. I never get a solid red.
Both of the (new to me) devices behave the same.
IMHO, the reset doesn't reset.
