How to register APX120 in CM

Hi folks,

I am having performance issues with my APX120s and a suggestion has been made to register them with CM to see if there is a newer version of firmware.

What trick do I need to use to register the APX with CM?

I have tried restarting the APX, give it its own unlimited access to the internet, but still no joy.

  • You need to deregister the APX from XG. It should automatically send packets to Central (52. IP). This should be accepted, hence you should be able to register the APX to Central.

  • Thank you, but how do you reregister an AP from the XG? Delete its configuration, you delete the AP?

  • Hi Lucar Toni,

I have registered the APX120 with CM and I cannot say that was an easy task.

Window tabs do not resize, to return to the Wireless page after going to the firewall page requires a logoff, close the page and start all over again.

Trying to find the connection speed is very difficult and according to the CM my iPhone connected a 10kb/s (0.01mb/s)

There is no indication in the XG that you have an AP managed from the CM.

According to the CM all APs are updated to the latest firmware, which APs because the CM firewall ist shows all 4 APs connected to my XG, though you cannot access/manage any of the APs directly from the CM firewall page even though you can see them.

So, I need to fire up another device that will connect to the CM managed AP and perform wifi connection report?

I now have duplicated SSIDs, one from the CM APX120 and one from the AP55. Yes, management should all be in the one place.

  • Next update. I ran the mac mini through the CM managed AP and attained the same results as the locally managed AP, connection speed of 433mb/s.

So, tommorw's task is to restore the APX120 to local management.

  • I guess we are talking about something completely different. I was talking about Central Wireless.

Not XG Managed! Did you register the Firewall to Central Wireless or to your XG, managed through CM?

  • The APX120 is registered to CM wireless as you suggested and that was what I reported on.

  • Hi,

there appears to be a bug in the APX wifi firmware in that you cannot select the 80mhz channels even though the 80mhz is ticked.

  • Thank you, I read all that thread with interest and it really does point out that the APX firmware has a bug, It is a bug if the APX do not utilise the 80mhz where as the AP55s and the Ubiquiti AP do quite happily.

Also something happened to the 2.4ghz because the APX and now the AP55s only connect at the 20mhz channel maximum speed, not the 40mhz maximum speed.
