Is XG Hardware Different Than SG Hardware?

I am comparing SG210 vs XG210 and the XG series appears to have faster throughput on all counts. Are there any hardware differences between similar SG vs XG units or is this solely the result of the OS changes?

  • Hi Nash,

    Thanks for choosing Sophos.

XG is our next gen Firewall. Latest in the market, hence it has the hardware advantage over SG products.

    Thanks

  • Why does Sophos not publish actual hardware specs? While I believe you that the newest gen units will benefit from newer hardware, I would like to see full specs published on ALL your UTMs. Are you using Core i5, i7, E3 in the XG series and how does that differ from the SG (specifically the 210 series units)?

Hardware should be the same, except new 750 model which is still not supported by UTM.
SG210 rev1 uses Celeron Dual Core (2.70GHz). CPU is probably same in rev2, but I couldn't find that information in existing partner sizing guide datasheets, only that disk was changed to SSD.
