True-File-Type Detection in Sophos XG Home

I use Sophos XG Firewall (Home Edition) and faced with a problem - my Sophos XG does not block files by mime type which hidden in zip. Tried to create custom file type - no changes in XG Firewall behaviour. All threats passing free into my network. Where is  the famous True-File-Type Detection of compressed files?  Can anyone help?

  • Hi,

    Greetings.

To be more secure with File Type Blocking, I request you to enable HTTP and HTTPS scanning in your Firewall Rule for Web Services.

Next, I need you to check the File Type Extensions that are already configured in XG, which you can either allow or block.

You can check this by navigating to Protection> Web Protection> File Type.

If you do not find any particular File Extension here, you can easily create a new File Type Category. PFA screenshot

After configuring the required File Type in this Category, add this to the Web Filter Policy and delete complete Web Cache from your Web Browser.

    Hope that helps.

    Thanks
