Malware Scanning & Web Filter causing issues with MP4 videos.

Hi Everyone,

I'm having issues with the malware scanner and web filter and playback of steaming mp4 files.

During playback of MP4 files, I am unable to skip forward or backwards on the video. If I try to fast forward or skip back the video freezes and will not continue to play. Here is an example MP4 embedded in a page that streams: camendesign.com/.../test.html

I have a default policy to allow all traffic which the MP4 playback works correctly, but as soon as I enable "Scan HTTP" under the "Malware Scanning", I am unable to skip forward/backwards on MP4 files. The same thing happens if I apply a Web filter, even the default "Allow All" web filter. If either of these two settings are enabled, or both are enabled at the same time, I have issues with MP4 playback. I'd like to me able to have the malware scanner enabled, but not at the cost of being able to fast forward when streaming MP4s. Any ideas?

Thanks,

Christopher

  • Hi

I have expiernced the same while watching the movies op my iphone app, in the pc browser it does work. In the app the video does not appear.

I do not scan video and audio, my solution was to whitelist the domain from http scanning, could not find other solution. Was a bit of search where the block was comming from because was global rul 0 and local acl etc, could be anything.

  • Hi Jeroen,

The message "Rule 0" and "Local_Acl" occurs when the Firewall has no Rule configured to forward the traffic. I suspect you have Firewall Rule to forward Specific port services. Alongside, iPhone application may use different port services for video streaming.

You can monitor this issue by either allowing all the services in the global Firewall Rule (if that is how I suspect)

    Hope that helps. :)

    Thanks

  • Hi Sachin

ok so it is not automaticly a ips or av thing, ok good to know.

I removed the exception to test.... and even then it works again, so maybe tempory error

I still only mis OR cannot find easy log data like source 192.168.2.2 to destination 8.8.8.8 proto udp port 53 DENIED and also data you missed to configure but while reading the log you can fix it. Then you know oh forgot to make rule for dns.

I always have here at home strict internet but offcource it has to work and have fun with the internet, apple android games and so on.

    thanks for youre time
