HA pair - monitor ports

Question

Hi all, 
 
 Can anyone tell me a use case of why should i monitor ports in a HA pair and break the pair if any goes down? 
 
 Recently i can see a lot of customers asking for HA. 
 Tested and everything seems to ok without monitoring any ports?

Hi Dragos Avram ,

Thank you for reaching out to the community, monitoring ports are for redundancy If a monitored port goes down, the device considers itself unavailable, and failover occurs and this is the default architectural behavior. And again to it is not always necessary to have a port for monitoring it depends on the environment and an end user's requirernemnt.
