XGS license transfer RMA

Question

Hello all 
 We are in the RMA process. In Sophos Central , when claim the firewall the license transfer is initiated automatically. 
 The warning message appear: 
 Your faulty device will be unclaimed. 
 XXXXXXXXXXXXXX will become unusable after the license transfer. You can't undo this 
 
 Can somebody define " unusable after the license transfer" 
 What does it , exactly, mean? Will it be functional for the period of time between replacement ( without the license) or it wil not be functional at all?

 Thank you for reaching out to Sophos Community. 
 " XXXXXXXXXXXXXX will become unusable after the license transfer . You can't undo this" 
 This only means that the license will be transferred to the new device. You can put another valid license, however, if it&rsquo;s for RMA. I would not recommend it as it is a faulty device. 
 Also, in some situations/instructions, the faulty device needs to be returned to Sophos after the replacement.
