Firewall non- supported

Hello,

We currently have a  XG230 (SFOS 19.0.1 MR-1-Build365) which I was told are no longer supported by March 2025. What will happen if I don't replace it will the firewall stop working??

Thanks for any help

  • Hello there,

Thank you for contating the Sophos Community.

Take a look at the following Blog ( XG Series Hardware: End of Life (EOL) Frequently Asked Questions )

    But three things:

    1) You have already been running an unsupported version for more than a year, so I recommend you update your firmware. Currently, you would not receive support if you had an issue with your appliance. Additionally, many stability and security issues have been fixed in newer versions.
Check here the cycle of our Sophos Firewall software (https://support.sophos.com/support/s/article/KBA-000003353?language=en_US)

    2) v20 will be the last major release to support the XG Series Hardware, so you won't be able to upgrade to v21, and eventually, when v20 becomes EoL, you won't receive support.

    3) After the EoL, if you still have a valid license, subscriptions will continue to work, but functionality and security will degrade over time.

You will no longer be protected against new threats or the latest changes to website categorization.

As these pattern upgrades stop for XG hardware and the installed data and engines age, the behavior of the features that depend on those components may become unreliable.

I recommend that you contact our Sales Engineer/Partner to ask about current offers for your hardware refresh.

    Regards,
