SNMP Collection - Sophos XG 19.5

hello,

I noticed that when I execute the `snmpwalk` command on the OID `.1.3.6.1.2.1.31.1.1.1.18` (ifAlias), the result comes back empty.

When I execute the OID `.1.3.6.1.2.1.2.2.1.2` (ifDescr), it returns the interface name. For example: eth7.

However, this interface eth7 has been renamed in the GUI to eth7 - LAN.

Is there a way to receive the value eth7 - LAN via SNMP?

  • Hello ,

Thank you for responding and for the documentation.

I will show here in practice what I am trying to do and the results of my tests.

In the documentation www.net-snmp.org/.../ there is a specific OID to show the INTERFACE DESCRIPTION on the Sophos Firewall. I ran it on my firewall and it brought the following result: IF-MIB::ifAlias

If you run the query using ifDescr, it returns the following data: IF-MIB::ifDescr

On the GUI interface, my interfaces are renamed as follows:

Through SNMP collection, I need to retrieve the name of my interface, just as it is on the GUI interface.

However, it seems that when querying the interface description or ifAlias (SNMP), it returns the result that is in CLI mode.

Is it possible, in some way, to change some configuration in Sophos so that it returns the interface names according to my definition?
