There is the Sophos Firewall Sizing Calculator available at https://firewallsizing.sophos.com. However, it seems to provide rather rudimentary and sometimes incorrect results. For example, if I enter a value of 20 Mbps in IPSec peak throughput requirements (Mbps), I am still recommended firewalls that, according to the datasheets, do not meet the required IPSec throughput. Some important requirements, such as the number of REDs, are not even queried. It seemes as if a student hat set it up. Is this calculator even usable?
