Yeah, you're right. Some [not so] clever person probably thought it was wise to put screws non-symmetrically on both sides of the router so you can't mix them up. That [not so] clever person also thinks that the right way to mount a router in a rack is with the connector facing the back so you have all the beautiful LEDs in view. Probably a hi-fi audio guy, not a network engineer...
That said, you can flip the router around with the connector facing the front, but you won't be able to put the long support on the left side because of Mr. Hi-fi audio. So you end up with that ugly power cable on the wrong side...
Another question... In the box, there is a second long support and a second PSU holder. How does Mr. Hi-fi audio think those should be installed for redundant PSU ? Does he intend to use two long support to be installed on a custom-made 22-1/2 inch rack (standard racks are 19 inches)?
