XGS Blocking Email Images on Apple Devices

Got a nagging but not serious problem (I bet it's not really a problem)

On my client networks, if a user has an Apple device, any email they check on that device while on my networks will not load images in an email automatically. [insert snide remarks here]. They're prompted to "Load Content" after a short msg at the top of their email page "Your network settings prevent content from loading privately."

I know that iOS 15 has a feature called "Mail Privacy Protection" that can be disabled on the user's phone...but I'd like to know what's causing it and why it loads fine on other public networks...besides the obvious Smiley I think I'd like to know what feature to disable or allow should I deem that to be ok for a coffee house office.

img attached of what they're seeing on their Apple devices.

  • thanks rfcat_vk,

This is any mail client on their iOS devices, primarily cell phones are what they're using. PC on the same network has no issues loading the images. In this case it's a gmail address checked on iOS.

  • I had the same issue until I installed the XG CA on all devices. My wife's outlook (on a mac air m1) displays images okay, but has other problems.

  • I guess what intrigues me is why is the iOS (iPhones) having no issue displaying images in emails whatsoever on a random network, but on one with an XGS iOS blocks images from loading - maybe I'm not grasping something? While I've been doing IT for a long time, I'm no master at firewalls

  • Probably becease the XGS is setup to scan https traffic and the other networks are not. Apple software does not like to be scanned.
