How disable firewall functions?

My XG 125 is blocking me from reaching hulu.com, and also blocking google shopping when it redirects me to googleadservice.com. As a test, I temporarily bypassed the XG, and I could get to those sites. So I know that the XG is blocking those sites. Then I made a new rule in the XG, at the very top, allowing all traffic, and not enabling any features. I expected that this would let all traffic through. It did not. The XG is still blocking traffic to Hulu and Google shopping. Isn't there a way to set the XG to not block anything? Sometimes that is needed temporarily, but it seems like the only way to allow all traffic is to physically bypass the XG.

  • Hi,

you don't need to disable firewall functions, you need to understand what is blocking the access.

When you review logviewer what rule is the traffic flowing through and then post a copy of that rule here.

  • Hi EastCoastUser,

Thank you for reaching out to Sophos Community.

In Addition to Ian, Sophos Firewall creates default rule groups containing a firewall rule to drop traffic.

The best practice is to allow only the traffic/services you need above the default block rule.

Bypassing of the firewall should only be done for testing purposes/troubleshooting.
