Change registrant of a used Sophos Firewall

Hello, 

I have recently bought an used Sophos XG Firewall and im not able to change the registrant and therefore activate my license. 

i tryd to get ahold of the old owner but the company ignores my calls and doesnt answer my mails. 

Does anyone have an idea on how to resolve that problem ? 

i also created a ticket with sophos but they didnt understand or misunderstood my problem and just sent me a manual how to change the registrant...

  • Does this matter ? I wanted to use the firewall for a remote / vpn connection 

  • Yes, it does. If you want to use it as a home user then it does not need to be re-registered. If you want to use it for a business process then yes, it needs to be reregistered as a Sophos hardware device.

    You will need to send the Sophos support team the documentation you have attempted to achieve registration transfer with. Do you know how  long since the device was no longer registered with its previous owner?

  • Ah alright got it, yeah i want to use it for a business process and therefore need an active license. 

    The device is still registered to the old owner at this moment and im not able to change it.
