Obtaining internet access

I installed Sophos UTM home and am trying to get internet access on one computer.  The setup is internet -> modem -> UTM -> PC.  My WebAdmin dashboard reads that the internal and external link are up.  I added a general rule to firewall and created a DHCP server.  When I check the lease table, I do not see the PC.  I cannot ping the UTM computer from the PC.  When I run ipconfig on PC, I see an autoconfig IPv4 address.

  • Hi RonRich;

    Can we confirm that the DHCP address is coming from the XG Firewall? So if you run an ipconfig /all - it should give the DHCP Server. Make sure this IP address is the IP addr of the XG interface.

    Another thing we can check is under the DHCP Server settings on XG: System > Network > DHCP what is the default gateway set to? (is it the IP of the interface or did you specify something different?)

    I have tested this on my XG and the lease showed up almost instantaneously on the UI.
  • Are you using utm 9.x or SF-OS (XG)?
    If utm 9 you will need to add a masq rule in the nat tab.
    Is it a firewall rule or XG policy?
