2nd Gen XGS desktop models: Available now
Our new XGS Series desktop models unlock best-in-class performance, power efficiency, and price per protected megabit per second (PPPMbps), or in other words, unbeatable value for SMB and branch office environments.

Product Highlights:
- Accelerated performance: Up to double the throughput of Gen.1 models plus Xstream virtual FastPath acceleration for IPsec VPN (XGS 88 to XGS 128) in combination with SFOS v21 and higher
- High-speed connectivity built in: 2.5 GE interfaces on every model, two built-in 10 GE SFP+ interfaces on the XGS 138*, and Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) integrated on all w-models with concurrent use of the 2.4 and 5 GHz bands for better performance
- Power and environment: Up to 50% lower power consumption, fanless XGS 88 and 108 models for whisper-quiet operation, an optimized thermal design for XGS 118 and above, and redundant power option for all XGS 1xx models
- Optional connectivity: New 5G module* available exclusively for Gen.2 models for more cost-effective redundant connectivity
- Streamlined hardware architecture: The XGS 88 to XGS 128 models boast a new single-CPU architecture while the XGS 138 has a refreshed dual-processor architecture

Pricing and Lifecycle
- The new hardware models come at the same competitive price point as the Gen.1 models but are not eligible for promo discounts at launch
- There will be no immediate lifecycle announcement for the Gen.1 models
- As all Gen.1 XGS Series desktop models will be supported for a further five years after any future end-of-sale announcement, customers who buy a Gen.1 model today still benefit from a full typical firewall lifecycle
- There are no near or mid-term changes planned for any other XGS models; this refresh is for our desktop models only

Sophos Firewall OS v21 introduces support for third-party threat feeds to bolster Active Threat Response, adds several scalability and high availability enhancements for the distributed edge, and delivers some top-requested features, including Let’s Encrypt certificate support.

- Seamless upgrade support from your existing XG or XGS Series device to the latest hardware with any-to-any backup and restore and port-mapping support
- Streamlined management and quality of life improvements to many areas, including a refreshed and more responsive management interface, network object management, and Let’s Encrypt certificate support
XG Series not supported
Customers running SFOS on an XG or SG Series appliance will need to upgrade to the XGS Series to benefit from this release. The new any-to-any backup/restore functionality makes upgrading from XG to XGS a simple and seamless process using our port mapping assistant.
