Control Android version, security updates with SMC

Hello all,

Were about to deploy about 100 devices based on Android with sophos mobile control.
I'm looking for a ideal (best practise) situation to have full control on the current and future Android\Google updates.

We have already a configuration ready based on the right policies etc.
Were running: SMC Server version: 7.0.8 (rev 9453)

Hi Haridoss,

What I try to achieve is when Google desides to have an security update or even a full firmware update to 8.0 for android. That we as organisation deside to push the updates to the devices.
We wanna test and moderate these updates before we push it trough our end-users.

Firmware Updates /Android updates can only be blocked on Samsung and LG devices which are compatible with KnoxStandard /LG Gate v.2.1. The feature is called "Allow over-the-air firmware updates". This needs to be unticked. The setting can be found in Android Policies under Security.

For non-Samsung/LG devices there is no setting like this.

Unfortunately, Sophos Mobile has no App Update Mangement feature.

hi is this still no possible after 3 years? we have the ability to force updates on apple devices but can do nothing other than block droid updates. other mdm providers has this option, isnt it a fundamental option considering droid versions have been dropped from support and only way to update is to contact the users directly.
